Catharine is a senior Corporate and Commercial practitioner with a particular focus on Mining Law, working closely with Tabacks’ Environmental Law team.
She has over the past 18 years acted extensively for listed, unlisted and private equity clients in a range of Merger and Acquisition transactions, sales and purchases of interests in mineral rights between both local and international companies, mineral rights applications and related applications for regulatory approval, as well as a wide range of general commercial and contractual arrangements, black economic empowerment transactions, structured finance transactions, corporate restructuring transactions and the like.
Engagements
Currently Catharine is engaged in, amongst others:
Assisting two Hong Kong-based companies with their initial investments in the South Africa mining industry and the numerous commercial and regulatory issues arising therefrom
Generally advising and assisting an Indian-based company with its participation as the EPC / O&M contractor in several solar power energy projects pursuant to the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme
Advising a major consortium of local and international investors in connection with the potential acquisition of an operating mine, including all associated due diligence investigations and transactional advice
Implementation of a broad corporate restructure of a specialist manufacturing group in connection with achieving compliance with its customers black economic empowerment requirements
